Casa Wagner

A very old building but very comfortable. A few of us who stayed experienced a couple of paranormal things. We were in separate rooms, all woke up at the same time (3am) to footsteps in our rooms. Did not scare us and honestly you are in a medieval city so was sort of expecting it. The owner is super nice and the restaurant had really good food. The location is in the fortress so it is convenient.

For the Hotel. Location is amazing, right on the main square. Hotel is quite rustic and has some charm. Staff are a mix of stiff but ultimately friendly once you start talking to rude (bar staff). Rooms have a lot to be desired. Blanket barely covered one person so was ridiculous on a double bed. Bedside light didn’t have a socket to be plugged into (why not just use an extension?!). Windows open out on to a courtyard, like many Eastern European hotels, which thankfully was ok in terms of noise the night we stayed but if someone is having a drink while you’re trying to sleep it will be miserable. There was also a ventilation shaft from the kitchen which was noisy and made our room smell like chip fat when we opened our window. Breakfast was on the better side for Romania (had muesli and yoghurt) but still pretty weak overall.

Review for the restaurant. The food was way out on its quality. If you don t want canteen food at overpriced restaurant fees you should avoid this place at all costs. The traditional "mititei" were horrible, I think they contained flour in the texture. When I wanted to tell politly my opinion on the good the waiter started to tell me that I am not informed in matters of food, insult and threaten me, starting a fight. A once in a life time experience indeed
